Terms of use
The agreement between you and Black Velvet Salon when you use this site or book an appointment.
Booking an appointment
A booking is confirmed when you receive the confirmation email, not when the form is submitted. If a deposit is due, the slot is only held once that deposit is paid.
Prices and durations shown are for the service as described. Length, density and the condition of your hair can change both, and we will tell you before starting - never after.
Deposits
A deposit is taken at booking for colour and extension services and comes straight off your final bill.
Deposits are handled by Stripe. They come off the final bill and are not an extra charge.
Cancelling and rescheduling
Reschedule or cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before your appointment. Inside 24 hours the deposit is retained.
You can cancel from your account up to 24 hours before the appointment. Inside that window, call the salon - the deposit is retained, because the slot is usually too late to fill.
Running late and no-shows
Arriving more than 15 minutes late may mean we shorten or reschedule the service so the day stays on time for everyone.
Repeated no-shows may mean we ask for a deposit on every future booking.
Patch tests and consultations
First-time colour clients need a patch test at least 48 hours beforehand. We cannot carry out a colour service without one, and an appointment booked without it may have to be rescheduled.
Some services are booked only after a consultation, which is noted on the service when you book it.
Results
We will tell you honestly what your hair can hold and how many sessions a result will take. Hair is not uniform and previous treatments affect what is achievable, so we cannot guarantee an exact match to a photograph.
If something is not sitting right, tell us within seven days and we will put it right at no charge. That covers the result we agreed on, not a change of mind.
Retail products
Unopened products can be returned within 14 days with a receipt. For hygiene reasons opened products cannot be returned unless faulty.
Your account
Keep your password to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for bookings made through it.
Booking as a guest is fine and creates a limited account so we can show you the appointment and send your confirmation.
Using this site
- Do not attempt to access other clients' information.
- Do not make bookings you do not intend to keep, or automate booking.
- Photographs of our work belong to the salon and the stylist who did it.
Where we stand
We take responsibility for the services we provide. We are not responsible for a reaction you were aware of and did not disclose, or for a result you were advised against and asked us to do anyway.
Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot legally be limited.
Changes
These terms apply from the date shown. We will move the date if they change. Last updated 5 September 2026.
